Ben Higson, DASC Head Coach, on the DG1 issue 30/01/13:
Last week was a tough time for the dolphins and everyone associated with the club. Myself and Danielle were briefed at a council meeting (23/1/13) about the closure and the only information that we received was the already in the press release. We were told that it would be a 17 month closure and no more.
In the meeting I was personally reassured that we as a club would be looked after and the council would do everything they could to get us into local other local authorities and if necessary private facilities.
Through most of the day on Wednesday 23rd and Thursday the 24th I worked on a proposal for pool time and space that I think is fair and well balanced. But most importantly what the club needs to ensure: first and foremost its survival and secondly its highly competitive status at all levels. This proposal was put to the council on Friday 25th and I am awaiting any news.
I would just like to reaffirm that myself, the coaching staff and the committee are 100% committed to ensuring that the club get what they need to keep the club moving forward.
I understand that there are many questions to be answered and discussions to be had. As soon as there is an update on the situation all members will be informed.
Please stay positive (the swimmers certainly are) we all need to pull together at a time like this.
Paul Johnston, DASC President, on the DG1 Update 30/01/13:
Nothing more to add on the closure itself. But after a meeting with the council Ben has put forward proposals for pool time at various pools in the region and further afield. We are hoping to have an answer to these proposals in the next couple of months. You must appreciate that planning this will take a bit of time. Ideally we want to have it all finalised April - May so that everyone knows where they stand. I am confident that we as a club have 100% support on this issue. I made it quite clear that no one in the club should be one penny out of pocket, and that the clubs progress should not be hindered by this disruption. Most importantly we don't don't want to lose one single member of the club due to the closure. We lost a generation last time we had to travel to Annan . After the next committee meeting there will be another update. There will be plenty of rumours flying about but please remember that is all they are. I believe the club will emerge from this much stronger. Believe it or not there are positives to take from this. If anyone has any questions ill do my best to answer them.

Paul Johnston, DASC President, on the DG1 Closure:
I'm sure most of you are now aware from newspapers Internet and word of mouth about the announcement that DG1 will be closing for 17 months as of January 2014. You don't need me to say what a major blow this is for the club to lose our home for this amount of time. I'm sure many of you will have lots of questions to ask regarding this matter. As I do myself. All I can say to you as president that myself and the rest of the committee along with Ben and Danielle will do everything we can to insure minimal disruption to the training program of the club. We will be having meetings with the council ASAP to discuss alternative facilities for the club to use. We will keep everyone up to date with the information as soon as we have it available. Via website and club notice boards, and if need be will call a EGM with someone from the council there to explain in more detail what's going to happen. Until a meeting has taken place we know as much as you do. So bare with us.

Well Deserved Delivery:
We all would like to thank the May and her hard working fund raisers who presented our Head Coach with 2 brand new Ipads bought with monies raised by the group and members. Top of Bens wish list, The coaches are over the moon with this delivery, these tools will mean the club can now use this advanced technology, like other clubs that we see at meets developing our own swimmers in a multitude of beneficial ways. The swimmers are really keen to watch how they are working and the coaches can now not just explain what they want the swimmers to do but to show them in a positive way. You may already have seen them being used at poolside ask your children what its all about.
